White wine is dominant in Croatia, particularly in inland regions. While the key Croatian wine styles are dry whites made from Grasevina (Welschriesling from Austria) and Malvasia from Italy, they have been a growing number of international varieties such as ChardonnaySauvignon BlancPinot Gris and Riesling planted in the country.

The favored red-wine grapes includes local variety Terlan (a member of the wider Refosco family) and Plavac Mali for rustic red blends.
