Chateau de Fosse-Seche Reserve du Pigeonnier Saumur 2018, Loire, France (750ml)
Château de Fosse-Sèche – AOP Saumur (Loire Valley)
Do you know Pascaline Lepeltier, Best Sommelier of France 2018 and associate at Racines NYC? She talks about Château de Fosse-Sèche as one of the best domains of the Loire Valley: https://www.instagram.com/p/BzqaZTtg9z0/.
Château de Fosse-Sèche has a long history. It is also known as “Fossa Sica”, with traces of vines dated from 800 and written archives dated from 1238 : "quedam domus que dicitur Fossa Sicca...", which stands for “there is a house called Dry-Pit…”. Château de Fosse-Sèche is situated in the Loire Valley’s heart, in Saumur, and seats at 55 meters above sea level. It covers 45 hectares in a single plot, with 17 hectares of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc vines surrounded by a forest. The winegrowers and owners are twin brothers Adrien and Guillaume Pire. They built one of France’s most advanced fauna and flora sanctuaries.
Château de Fosse-Sèche terroir is fresh, with a windy exposure and a warm flint soil full of iron oxide. The Domain gives extreme care to its certified organic and biodynamic vineyard, producing healthy grapes while fostering biodiversity. The wines are of utmost precision and subtleness, making it the perfect companion in the art of gastronomy. The wines are listed in more than 200 Michelin star restaurants (see attached).
