| 93 pts, Wine Advocate: "More complex than the Pontcin cuvée, yet with a similar level of purity and freshness, the 2011 Château Grillet offers lots of crushed rock-like minerality, buttered citrus, tangerine and a hint of honeysuckle on the nose. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, has vibrant acidity, plenty of concentration and a great finish. It's another wine that will easily continue drinking nicely through at least 2021. (Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate (222), December 2015)
Winemaker's note: Smoky on the nose, with vanilla; lightly oaked with balsamic notes. Opens up to develop citrus fruit, yellow plum and floral aromas along with a hint of aniseed. Mineral on the palate, with long acidity and notes of lemon and brioche. Overall, a very pleasant freshness with lots of elegance.
A remarkably well-balanced wine, dominated by its fat which is nicely offset by the excellent acidity. Château-Grillet is a perfect match for truffled foie gras, roast turbot, grilled lobster, scallops or Bresse chicken in cream sauce. Pairings with Asian cuisine, spicy foods and sweet-and-sour flavours can also provide wonderful experiences.
