| 100% Carignane planted in 1902. Vineyards are situated at a height of 350/500 meters above sea level on hillsides of pronounced slopes, with the characteristic slate soil called "licorella". Yields is very low of only 300 gram per vine. 2010 was a magnificent vintage, which has resulted in a wine showing a prodigious combination of refinement, subtleness, sharpness and strength. Balance all over. The elaboration process followed temperature-controlled fermentation with a total maceration period of about 4/5 weeks what allowed a progressive and excellent extraction. The ageing was of 16 months in new French oak. Just 3 barrels produced, all numbered bottles.
| 98 points, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate #227: "What a pleasure to taste two vintages of a pure Cariñena from centenary low-yielding vines, which was the case with the 2010 1902, from a superb vintage that had the advantage of some four years in bottle. It has had time to develop further nuances, burn out the baby fat and start showing intense aromas that speak about the Priorat – the dusty roads and the wet slate intermixed with notes of decayed violets and raw meat, powerful and captivating. The palate is simply phenomenal, with ultra–refined tannins and great freshness, while maintaining the rustic elegance the Cariñena is capable of. My guess is this wine should age effortlessly for 25+ years. Only 850 numbered bottles were filled in April 2012." (28 Oct 2016)
96 points, Guía Peñín 2016: "Cherry, garnet rim. Mineral, expressive, spicy aroma, candied fruit. Palate: tasty, ripe fruit, long, good acidity, round, powerful."
94 points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous: "Deep ruby. Vibrant, mineral-accented red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by notes of licorice and Asian spices. Lively and precise, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that put on weight with air. Powerful yet lithe, even graceful, finishing with outstanding clarity and length and chewy tannins that make a late arrival." September 2014
