| 95 points, Bob Campbell MW: "The merits of selecting the best fruit from a hillside vineyard are immediately obvious in this intense, complex and full-bodied wine. It’s a massive fruit bomb style with layers of dark fruit, spice and oak flavours and a rich and silken texture that in combination are particularly seductive." (Jun-2008)
More on vineyard and winemaking: A very warm spring that gave very good fruit set followed by a hot summer that gave fruit of exceptional richness and power. While the vintage ended poorly with rains in the first 2 weeks of April all of our fruit had already been harvested. Fruit was gently destemmed and transferred by hopper to open top fermenters. Indigenous fermentation began after a 5-7 day ambient soak. The wine was then left for post ferment maceration for 11-18 days after which it was transferred to barrel by gravity feed. French barrels from Damy, Rouseau, Taransaud and Mercurey for 20 months. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered 9th December 2009.
