We have had the pleasure to having Mr. Francois Villard visit our office to deliver a staff training. It was great tasting with the winemaker himself, who knows his stuff and is never shy about experimenting with his ideas of a novelty. His early wine releases already showed bold approach to his winemaking, as early as 1994 when he was literally the first among northern Rhone producers introducing botrytis for dry whites, and applying higher use of new barrels for white wines than the reds for creating well-integrated aromas and texture. We were also given a little background history and the winemaking bits of each of the wines we tasted, most of which were quite different style from those we had tasted from other producers from the same appellation.
